Journeyman Welder, Gas - General Construction
This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.
Job Summary
Journeymen Welders are expected to assist the foreman with planning and executing the days work to ensure the safety of the crew and the public while focusing on productivity.
Work is predominantly outdoors and in all weather conditions. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours, travel/transfer to new headquarter upon request at anytime, and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment.
This position is a DOT covered classification and is subject to random drug screening.
Responsibilities
Install, repair, maintain, weld, fabricate and upgrade gas transmission and pipeline and distribution piping
Perform welding using various weld processes
Perform welding in construction and maintenance of pipeline facilities using various hand tools such as but not limited to tape measures, protractors, levels, framing squares, straight edges, and power cleaning tools.
Must lead and provide a productive team environment
Maintain tools and equipment
Must work safely at all times as defined by PG&E's safety standards and procedures
Must be able to read and comply with all required company standards and work procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
Must possess a valid California Driver's license or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
Positions available in San Francisco, San Jose and Bakersfield CA.

Description of Essential Job FunctionsUnload & load freight off/on trailers; lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs frequently and greater than 75 lbs occasionally); safely operate heavy equipment; move, position and connect/disconnect a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs; safely climb in and out of a tractor cab and trailer; sit for extended periods of time in a truck tractor and/or forklift; safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery; operate a tractor/trailer combination up to 11 consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting hazardous/non-hazardous materials; and safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
